Kate was so excited to start school this year. She got all new uniforms and an awesome monster high backpack.
She might be the cutest kindergartner I have ever seen.

The first day of school went great. Kate and Chloe meet their teacher and walked right into the classroom. She seemed happy when I picked her up only 2 1/2 hours later. She said she had fun. The teacher yelled a little and the kids were being really bad. I thought o well I would yell if I had 30 five year olds too. The next day I went to drop her off. She walked in the gate just fine. The kids all dropped their backpacks to play on the play ground and the the teacher raised her voice a bit. Kate heard that and lost it running for the gate screaming. She was reaching though the fence for me like I was leaving her in prison. I tried to calm her down while other parents stared. The teacher yelled for the kids to come to class and Kate started climbing over the 6 foot tall fence around the kindergarten area into my arms. I tried to relax her and assured her she would be staying no matter what. (Am I a bad mom?) The class left so a had to take her in through the school. I drug her into the office screaming. And yes Ryan and Brynn are with us too. Luckily a teachers aid saw me struggling and offered to help. She helped me walk Kate down to her classroom still kicking and screaming. It was so bad that people where sticking their heads out of doors to see what all the commotion was. The teacher came out to help and Kate was still kicking. The teacher was worried Kate was going to hurt her so she went back in. I can't blame her she had 29 other kids waiting for her. The teachers aid told me to leave and she would calm her down. I had to abandon my child in the hall. It was the worst feeling ever. By the time we got out the door Ryan and I were both in tears. She stayed and was OK when I picked her up. Drop off was a huge struggle for the next two weeks. We had tears but no kicking and screaming. I teacher befriended her and had her be the helper which really helped. We made a deal that if she went to school for 2 weeks with no issues she could start cheer. It worked 3 months in and she is doing great.

Wow, I can't believe a Kindergarten teacher would be yelling. So sad. 30 is too many at that age. Maria didn't have a teacher that yelled but Maria did tantrums and didn't want to go in, she was a young one, too (Nov birthday) I don't remember if she finished the year but I had her repeat when we moved to La Jolla. She never forgave me but I think it was good for her to be one of the older ones. I am surprised Kate would react that way, she seems so mature for her age but yelling on the first day??? Very strange.
