Mike had the great idea to actually celebrate memorial day by visiting GG and Grandpa Stewart's grave. We each told a memory and Mike brought a photo from the "good old days". The kids had a great time remembering GG and the wonderful Great Grandma that she was. The kids each brought their own flower and flag to display.
After the grave we went to Cafe Rio for lunch and then up to Mt. Charleston to do an easy hike with the kids. It is amazing how close we are to beautiful pine covered mountains. It took me back to Lake Tahoe. (Although nothing even comes close.) We started with Kate and Jackson walking, Ryan and Anna in the back packs, and Brynn in the front pack. Our easy hike quickly got harder and harder. When we reached the switch backs Grandma decided to turn back. The kids were quickly tiring. MJ and I knew we had to keep the moral up to make it to the top. Everyone we past said you still have while but its worth it. So we kept going. It was probably 2 miles up and 2 miles back. We kept going with a lot of breaks, but we made it. So worth it. Big waterfall with snow at the bottom. We were at the top of the world. We were so proud of Kate and Jackson. They did awesome. Ryan and Anna were another story. Brynn was an angel as usual she never made a peep. She ate most of the way down. I know I am talented. I will go again, just maybe a different hike next time.
