Palm Desert or Home Desert

Every year my family takes a trip to Palm Desert the last week of June. This year we had the privilege to have many of my extended family there with us. The entire week is spent swimming, watching movies, eating, or laughing with the family. We always have so much fun when we are together. This year all the little girl cousins where old enough to do their own thing. I don't feel like we ever saw them. Kate wanted so much to be with them every minute of every day. I am not sure they felt the same way, but they did a good job of including her. Here are a few of the good times.......

Kate on the other hand would not stop asking people to throw her, dunk her, or anything with her as long as she was getting attention. She gained a new love for her Uncle Jeff who was really good at throwing her high in the air.

My Aunt Liz brought a bunch of fun pool toys. I never would have thought to bring a blow up pool and use it as a boat. It worked great. The kids love there Dad! They never left his side while he was there.

Knotts Soak City

Kate found the perfect slide for her. She ran to the top, slid down and did it all over again. I wish she could have just figured out the standing in line part. She got pushed out of line more than once. Letting other go in front of her, does not sound like Kate I know. Lets cross our fingers she is turning over a new leaf.

At the end of the day we could not find Kate. She was with her 8 year old cousin Brook in the kids area but they were both gone. Jarrod and I set off looking for them. We found them coming around the bend in the lazy river. Brook clinging to the tube and Kate clinging to Brook. I tried to hold Kate in the tube with me earlier in the day and and still don't know how Brook did it. Thanks Brook you are such a good friend to Kate. She loves you! (And all the other girls too!)

Mike had to leave to go back to work. The kids were upset so I took them to the big hotel to go on a gondola ride. While we were waiting in line Kate went up to a young boy to tell him she liked his Pirate shoes. He said thank you. Then she asked him if he liked her STRIPPER shoes. Luckily the boys mom thought she said slipper shoes so I did not feel so stupid. But for the next 15 minutes in line they were best buds. I guess he did like her shoes after all.

This was such a fun trip. It was so nice to be away with my family. We have been going to Palm Desert or as Kate would say "Home Desert" since 1993. The last time I was able to go was when I was pregnant with Kate. I am so glad to be back with my family and able to do these fun things with them again. Until next year! (I hope)
