He is here!

We had a fun day on Monday. I was feeling crazy so I enjoyed a little caster oil cocktail and spent a few hours of the day you know where. As soon as that ended I was having contractions pretty close together, but they were not very strong at all. So I spent the rest of the wondering if this was really the day. The contractions never really got very strong, but I decided to notify my Kate watchers. I told Mike to come home from work, although he did not believe me and 30 minutes later my water broke. I called him to see where he was and yes he was still at work. So he said he would set a speed record. Carl and Brittney came over to stay with Kate till John and Lindsey got there. Carl was so calm and made sure I had everything I needed. What a gentleman. Mike got home and we left right away. The contractions started to get stronger in the car but nothing too terrible. We valeted the car and walked up to labor and delivery. If you walked past me in the hall you would have never know I was in labor except for the fact that I was carrying a pillow and had a fat tummy. They started to check me in and took their sweet time. Still not in terrible pain I made sure they new I wanted an epidural. We made it to a room around 6:30 just in time for shift change. The nurse checked me and I was only 3-4. The contractions were starting to hurt worse but I could handle it until my epidural came. My doctor came in the say hi before he went home for the night. And told me that I should have come earlier. I wanted to punch him in the face. Now the contractions were really strong, way stronger than I felt with Kate. They were only 30 sec apart. They told me I could not get the epidural until I had my IV and had my blood work done. The nurse came in to do the IV and I was in really bad pain I could not hold still for her, but somehow the IV went in. I guess I figured it was the only way to get the epidural. By now I was grunting and new something was really going on. Meanwhile my poor husband was had not idea what was going on. I think he was scared out of his mind. The nurse decided after 30 minutes to check me again and to her surprise I was complete. She called the doctor and he yelled down the hall to get a table. Mike was still in shock and the nurse had to tell him to get the camera. She told him to come around the table and he looked down to see his sons head. One push later and we had a baby. 3-4 centimeters to delivery in 40 minutes. It was pretty intense and I am still not sure if I want a natural birth ever again. But I don't know what to do if the next one comes faster. Mike might have to go to some delivery classes. He was 8lbs 1 oz and 20 2/3 in long. Ryan Michael Stewart! Thank you to all those who helped with Kate you were life savers. It felt so good to know that I did not have to worry about my little girl.

Kate is a proud big sister! She grew up so much in the 12 hours I was away from her.

Ryan's first mohawk.

My proud husband. He loves his family and is so glad to be home in his own bed. We are so blessed!

I am glad you wrote such a detailed description. That seems crazy that you had the baby in 40 minutes. Isn't that, like, insanely fast? And what was the cater oil for? I didn't get that part of the story. I am totally coming to you with questions when I am pregnant. Someday. Hopefully. Also, it is amazing that you had him without an epidural. Anyway, congratulations! Another healthy, happy baby! I want one too!

Congratulations (a few weeks later, sorry). I totally understand the whole 'too fast for an epidural' birth story - thanks to Emma. I don't think I would do it again by choice, but it makes for a good story, right!
